The Vision of the Dance
Roukia is a nomadic griot (musical storyteller) whose mesmerizing performances of the Mami Wata legend captivate audiences across West Africa. After falling in love with Biokun, a local fisherman, she settles in the vibrant coastal town of Itesi.
But joy turns to grief when each of their children dies shortly after birth. Consumed by desperation and labeled a witch by suspicious locals, Roukia abandons her music and her identity.
Her search for answers uncovers a terrible secret about her adopted hometown: every generation, the water goddess Mami Wata demands a sacrifice from a chosen bloodline, or the seas will rise and swallow the town whole.
Biokun is of this bloodline. He is the next sacrifice. And their children carry the same fate.
To break the curse and save her family, Roukia must return to her power, reunite with her music, and confront the goddess in a life-altering encounter that will transform them both.
Crocodile Dance is a love letter to anyone who has struggled to find their voice in a world that silences us. It's about confronting the monster within and dancing with it, not slaying it. It’s about discovering that transformation—not destruction—is the path.
