Meet John Stein, the most recently minted, and youngest member of the think tank. A lover, a liar, a thief, and a rogue. A man of 1,000 faces, identities and aliases, carefully cultivated and maintained with great care across dozens of planets and hundreds of moons.
Meet Persio, the Smartest Man Alive. Probably.
Starting out, I had no idea what Persio should look like. Shof and I both knew we wanted to name him after our maternal great-grandfather; Persio Manuel Reis. I knew in some ways he was going to be the heart of the team - a doting father, difficult husband, and an unreliable teammate.
A Post About Aliens and Spaceships
Our first tale is set on earth, in Morocco to be exact. It's a science fiction adventure story set some 1,000 years in the future, so there are quite a few aliens about. We don't have a super-nerdy series bible or fancy codex that catalogs all the different species of alien yet, but we might some day... if I get terribly, terribly bored. In the designs below, Shof wanted to explore alien designs that seemed familiar, but different, and have fun in the process. Here's what he came up with.
About Denarii
The group didn't know much about his background before he joined, but Denarii quickly gained their respect, thanks in no small part to his incredible physical abilities.
Powerful and ruthlessly efficient, all wired energy and tension, Denarii is gifted with absolute fearlessness and the unique ability to infiltrate just about any structure with extreme efficiency.
About Sulesh
Sulesh is a member of the ancient Jovian race. Beyond that fact and a few personality traits, I honestly have little idea who Sulesh is right now. The truth is we'll have to find out together, as the books progress. In the meantime, I'll share as much as I do know.
How The Jonahverse Began
I came up with the idea for a spacefaring African comic book hero named Jupiter Jonah in my final year of college. Jonah was heavily influenced by the likes of Flash Gordon, Tarzan, and John Carter of Mars. He would embark on a series of amazing adventures, meeting friends, foes and incredible alien beings in a pan-galactic journey across the stars. At least, that was the plan. I got a job out of college, life took over, and Jonah was put on the back burner.
